Tim Ek Joins Mountain Bike Radio as a Partner Athlete
Hey there Mountain Bike Radio Readers & Listeners,
It’s been a little while on this blog here, but I wanted to chime in quickly with some news regarding Mountain Bike Radio.
Tim Ek is joining Mountain Bike Radio as our first “sponsored” athlete. You may be wondering why I put sponsored in quotes. Well, I’m not a fan of the term really. I’m also not big on the “ambassador” type of thing. It’s not really what it is. I’m not just deciding to send him a pile of swag and hoping that he rides off into the sunset, hashtagging Mountain Bike Radio on social media posts. So…what the hell are you doing Ben and what is Tim going to be doing? (I can hear you thinking…)
Tim brings tremendous experience and a lengthy tenure with the good gang over at Salsa Cycles. During that time, he’s written some awesome stories and been the star of some great videos, including the popular “Racing the Sun.”
I’ve known Tim for years through racing and his “blue collar” approach to life on and off the bike is something that we can all grasp and feel at a personal level. He lives in Duluth, Minnesota, the newest bright spot in the world of Midwest mountain biking. Is the fastest guy out there? He’ll tell you no. Is he the toughest guy out there with an attitude to just get things done? Well, Tim wouldn’t tell you personally. He’s too humble for that. So, I’ll say it for him. He is.
Tim will be regularly writing here on Mountainbikeradio.com. He’ll be writing some regular, shorter posts, as well as writing some longer posts and some big stories throughout the year. Tim will also be contributing to our Instagram account, so watch for that too. Watch for him if you’re in the Midwest, as he’ll be out flying the MBR kit. I look forward to reading his writing and I’m excited to work with him behind the scenes on all of this. It’s a partnership – we’ll kick around ideas, do some cool stuff, and spread the MBR love together.
If you’re interested to find out more about Tim, I would recommend heading over to his site, The Eki Chronicles.
That’s it. Have a great week!
